Thank you for joining me today! I decided to start a blog to share my thoughts, design tips and other design related news.
I have wanted to start a blog for a while, but something always came up and then I just kept it on my to-do list.
I redesigned my website as I felt it didn't look right when scrolling through and seeing the images of my work.
I have been in the industry for a long time and I have seen a lot of changes over the years. When I first got into it, I just wanted to design clothes and do my drawings. Initially, it was to be a costume designer for films, but I took a left turn and got into childrenswear (that'll be for another post).
I then realized I needed to know more as designing wasn't everything - fashion is a business, so I networked, met others in the profession, and moved my way around. I learned about marketing, merchandising, and a host of other skills needed to navigate this world. I also realized you have to be flexible and I took jobs and projects in kids bedding, soft goods, then pet apparel and related products.
I also got into teaching (more later) and that has truly kept me in the loop with the innovations in our industry, and I find I am very much inspired by my students.
I am also very inspired by my own family of four-legged, furry kids (you can see some in the above image) , and I just want to keep on working.
I kind of have my own line - I create all of the graphics and they are made to order via a third party vendor, but someday I hope to have my own cut & sew kids and pets apparel and products line.
In the meantime, I am available for projects. I am also looking for a full-time position, but in the meantime, I will take some part-time and freelance projects. I have worked for many remotely, and that's what some of the innovations I really like; to be able to stay in my comfy clothing and work from home.
Contact me today to give those extra pair of hands you need!
